Collective Separation is a studio project born out of the collaboration between songwriters John Fratus (http://www.myspace.com/johnfratusmusic) and Max. John and Max were childhood pals into their early teens. In those early years they shared interests in the arts and spent a lot of their time drawing, writing, and of course - playing music. The friends headed in separate directions in their high school and college years, and eventually lost touch. Incredibly, after nearly 30 years they got reconnected via the internet and renewed their friendship. Through the magic of digital multi track recording and high speed communications they began writing songs together, with each working from their own home studios.

Since summer of 2005 they have worked on a half dozen of so songs; sometimes in a prolific groove and... and sometimes months can go by in between collaborations :-)

It reached a point where the songs have an identity of their own, similar but different from the music they make "solo" or with their various bands. So here they are pleased to present this incredible (true) story that's brought the world an entirely new, and unique musical identity: Collective Separation.
